Chemonics seeks two organizational development specialists for the USAID-funded One Health Workforce – Next Generation (OHW-NG) program. One specialist will be based in Kampala Uganda, and the other will be based in Chiang Mai, Thailand. OHW-NG will work through university networks to strengthen the workforce’s ability in Africa and Southeast Asia to prepare for, prevent, detect, and respond to public health emergencies, including infectious diseases, particularly zoonosis and antimicrobial-resistant health threats. The organizational development specialists will strengthen the functional and organizational ability of regional OHW-NG university networks to acquire and manage direct donor funding. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.

Responsibilities include:

  • Act as a case manager for the assigned networks, identifying areas for support and coordinating technical assistance
  • Provide hands-on technical assistance to strengthen administrative, operational, and financial capacity to acquire and manage direct donor funding from various donors
  • Facilitate the networks’ exchange of knowledge and plans related to organizational development and the acquisition and management of direct donor funding
  • Provide the university networks’ leadership with mentorship and coaching on implementing strategic plans

  • Support assessments to determine the networks’ financial, operational, and technical strengths and weaknesses, reviewing and revising their strategic plans as needed

  • Facilitate the development of short-, medium-, and long-term strategies for an organizational framework with diminishing USAID-funding

  • Assist with the development of business plans that reflect the vision, strategy, institutional capabilities, and organizational structures necessary to sustain operations independently

  • Support the development of strategies to build a supply of talent and organizational capacity systems

  • Help clarify the networks’ value proposition, including developing strategies for member engagement

  • Facilitate the development of a focused resource mobilization plan

  • Inform the evaluation of partnerships with participating universities and government ministries to ensure support for the network beyond USAID funding

  • Help develop partnerships between the national university networks to foster their ownership of programs, advance activity implementation, and enable south-to-south technical assistance

  • Equip the networks to engage at the local level

  • Facilitate the establishment and institutionalization of administrative, operational, and financial knowledge management; IT systems; policies; and procedures

  • Support the procurement of USAID and non-USAID funding

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field; advanced degree preferred
  • Minimum of eight years of experience in senior leadership positions within higher education institutions or other international development organizations
  • Demonstrated expertise in organizational development.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex organizational, personnel, administrative, financial, and cross-cultural aspects of OHW-NG
  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
  • Fluency in English required; fluency in French preferred
