Chemonics seeks a senior organizational development advisor for the USAID-funded One Health Workforce – Next Generation (OHW-NG) program. OHW-NG will work through university networks to strengthen the workforce’s ability in Africa and Southeast Asia to prepare for, prevent, detect, and respond to public health emergencies, including infectious diseases, particularly zoonosis and antimicrobial-resistant health threats. The senior organizational development advisor will strengthen the functional and organizational ability of regional OHW-NG university networks to acquire and manage direct donor funding. The senior organizational development advisor will be based in the United States. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.

Responsibilities include:

  • Direct the organizational development strategy for the university networks, and oversee results
  • Provide hands-on technical assistance to strengthen administrative, operational, and financial capacity to acquire and manage direct donor funding from various donors
  • Facilitate the networks’ exchange of ideas, knowledge, and plans related to organizational development and the acquisition and management of direct donor funding
  • Develop benchmarks for the regional university networks so that they can increasingly acquire funding directly from USAID through transition awards
  • Supervise field-based technical staff assisting the networks
  • Support assessments to determine financial, operational, and technical strengths and weaknesses
  • Assist with the review and revision of strategic plans
  • Facilitate the development of short-, medium-, and long-term strategies for an organizational framework with diminishing USAID-funding
  • Support the development of business plans that reflect the vision, strategy, institutional capabilities, and organizational structures necessary to sustain operations independently
  • Assist with the development of targeted strategies to build a supply of talent and organizational capacity systems
  • Help clarify the networks’ value proposition, including developing strategies for member engagement
  • Facilitate the development of a focused resource mobilization plan
  • Support the evaluation of partnerships with participating universities and government ministries to expand opportunities beyond USAID funding
  • Help develop partnerships between the national university networks to foster their ownership of programs, advance activity implementation, and enable south-to-south technical assistance
  • Provide the university networks’ leadership with mentorship and coaching on implementing strategic plans, including engaging government bodies, staff, and network members
  • Facilitate the establishment and institutionalization of administrative, operational, and financial knowledge management; IT systems; policies; and procedures
  • Support the procurement of USAID and non-USAID funding

Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in a relevant field
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in senior leadership positions within higher education institutions or other international development organizations
  • Demonstrated expertise in organizational development
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex organizational, personnel, administrative, financial, and cross-cultural aspects of OHW-NG
  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
  • Fluency in English required
