Role and Responsibilities

We are seeking a dynamic communications and marketing professional who can lead, develop and deliver Medair UK’s external engagement with various audiences, across multiple platforms, with a particular focus on digital and social media. Working with the Head of Engagement, and the rest of the Medair UK team, you will help deliver Medair UK’s strategic goals and generate financial, personnel and prayer support and awareness for Medair and its life-saving work assisting some of the world’s most vulnerable people.

Purpose

To lead, develop and deliver Medair UK’s external engagement with the aim of generating financial, personnel and prayer support and awareness. Ensuring that Medair UK’s marketing and communications activities are aligned with Medair’s UK overarching strategic plan, annual operating plans and the Medair strategy.

Medair UK is an affiliate of the Swiss-based humanitarian organisation, Medair, which brings life-saving relief and recovery to communities devastated by natural disasters, conflicts, and other crises. Together, we work in some of the most remote and difficult places on earth, empowering people to build a better future. Medair is a humanitarian organisation inspired by Christian faith. About you

You will have a proven track record in communications and marketing, in particular digital marketing. You will be a compelling written communicator and have well-developed project management skills. You will be creative, innovative and able to generate new, inspiring content which encourages people to engage with Medair’s life-saving work. You will have an understanding of the humanitarian sector, as well as what motivates people’s involvement and generosity and you will be able to use these to engage supporters. You will be inspired by, and in full agreement with, Medair’s Christian values and ethos.

Contract Details

Part-time: 3 days per week; flexible working hours available

Salary

£36,912.96 per annum full time (pro rata for 3 days per week, i.e.: £22,147.78)

Key Activity Areas

The role holder will have an important contribution to make in inputting into Medair UK’s fundraising plan and supporter journey.

Digital Communications and Marketing

· Develop, implement, manage and review Medair UK’s digital communications and marketing plan and activities:

o Develop and deliver strategy, plan and content for Medair UK’s social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn) engaging supporters around the “pray, give, go” message, scheduling daily postings on these social media platforms.

o Ensure that Medair UK’s digital platforms support and enhance the supporter journey and experience of new and existing supporters.

o In liaison with the rest of the Medair UK team, make the Medair UK website inspiring to readers, develop and update the website pages, ensuring they are locally appropriate and in line with overall Medair strategy, maximising supporter engagement through the Medair UK website

o In liaison with the rest of the Medair UK team, develop inspiring e-mail communications including e-fundraising content and activity which aligns with Medair UK’s annual fundraising plan and which maximises supporter engagement.

o Ensure Medair News, Medair Prayer, and other relevant print based materials are made accessible to Medair’s supporters and partners in various digital formats.

o Generate ideas for, write concept briefs for, and oversee the production of, engaging video content for use on Medair UK’s digital platforms.

o Create, maintain and develop Medair UK’s communications calendar.

o Develop and maintain links with Medair’s Communication Officers in the field, with a view to leveraging appropriate communications content from the field for use by Medair UK across its various digital platforms.

o In conjunction with the Engagement Support Officer – Churches, develop and maintain links with UK nationals working as International Relief Staff with a view to leveraging appropriate communications content from the field for use by Medair UK across its various digital platforms.

o In conjunction with the Engagement Support Officer – Churches, maintain links with Medair Alumni, as appropriate, with a view to leveraging communications content for Medair UK’s various digital platforms.

o Act as the main point of contact within Medair UK with Global Support Office for all matters relating to the Medair UK website.

o In liaison with the rest of the Medair UK team, develop and maintain Medair UK’s presence on key partners’ digital platforms, ensuring compelling content and currency and appropriateness of messaging about Medair and its work.

Print Communications and Marketing

· Act as the point of contact within Medair UK for ensuring brand accuracy, tone and appropriateness of messaging for all published materials and communications.

· In liaison with the rest of Medair UK team, ensure that all Medair UK’s print materials and publications are well-designed, printed and distributed in a timely manner and within budget.

· Work with external suppliers, including designers, printers, freelancers, etc., to generate marketing literature and campaign materials.
