When we think about international work in health and medicine, we often envision field workers delivering primary care in conflict or disaster zones. But emergency humanitarian aid is just one of many areas in which health and medical professionals can play an important role abroad.

A look at clinical and non-clinical roles in humanitarian relief and global health, including training programs, capacity building or research as well as public health, disease prevention and education.

Medical professionals can be counted among the 20 most wanted professions needed to fill skills shortages in OECD countries, and there are countless opportunities to work overseas.

Because of the high demand worldwide, finding international work as a qualified health or medical professional is far less difficult than it can be in many other professions.
